Foundation for the Red Bank Public Library

Mission

The mission of the Foundation for the Red Bank Public Library is to raise funds to support the long-term fiscal health of the Red Bank Public Library.

History

A great library is the cornerstone of a vibrant community. Today, however, a great library is not possible through public funding alone. Current levels of municipal funding and state aid are insufficient to sustain a dynamic public library in Red Bank. In 2013, concerned members of the Library Board of Trustees and the community came together to form the Foundation for the Red Bank Public Library in order to raise funds to support the long-term fiscal health of the Library and promote awareness of all the Library has to offer.

A thriving library benefits a community’s local businesses as well as its residents by making it a desirable place to live and work. Patrons of the Red Bank Library report that it is an oasis of calm and reflection that has enriched their lives, enhanced the development of their children, and socialized them into the community.

Recent Activities

One of the most important responsibilities of the Board is managing utilization of the funds donated to the Foundation by the Eisner family. Beginning in 2015 and extending for an additional four years, the Foundation will have $10,000 anually to develop new Library programs, expand its collection of reading material, and acquire new resources. The Board also has underwritten several fund raising initiatives. New monies are obtained each year by means of an Annual Appeal. This year, the Board has initiated a new approach to fund raising by involving a consultant to prepare proposals to a variety of business organizations and other entities that could offer financial support for the Library. Among a number of expenditures approved by the Board that support operation of the Library was the authorization of funds to purchase the equipment required to create a makerspace. Children, teens, and adults are now able to learn to use a variety of tools, including a laminating machine, a button machine, a sewing machine, and a silhouette machine. Importantly, this equipment also serves the Library staff in preparing promotional and program material.

Board Membership

The Foundation Board is made up of business owners who meet bimonthly to discuss strategies to raise funds in support of the Library. If you are interested in learning more about the Board or about volunteer opportunities, please contact the Foundation at (732) 842-0690.

Building Support for a Stronger Red Bank Public Library

Building Support for a Stronger Red Bank Public Library

The Foundation for the Red Bank Public Library will send out its fourth annual appeal to build financial support for our Library's many programs and collections.  During this season of giving, we hope you support us and allow the Library to expand our offerings and better serve our town.

The benefits of having a strong library in our community are many. Currently, Red Bank Public Library cardholders can instantly borrow digital movies, TV, music, audiobooks, ebooks, magazines and comics -- all from the comfort of their homes -- for free. They also have access to databases and learning programs such as Rosetta Stone and Universal Class. In addition to our physical collection, the Library offers many wonderful free programs for adults, children and teens, providing the opportunity for community members to expand their horizons and meet their neighbors. Check out our website and calendar -- there's something for everyone!

The Library has set a goal of $20,000 for this year's appeal, with the funds being dedicated to the five goals established in the Library's Strategic Plan. For more information, read the 2016 Strategic Plan and Annual Appeal.

Donations may be made in person, by mail or online at www.redbanklibrary.org  (click the "donate" button at the bottom of the page).  Because of your generosity, the Library continues to be a vital part of our community. It is the most remarkable place in town!

With gratitude,

Elizabeth McDermott, Director
