Eisner Opportunity Lab

The Red Bank Public Library has opened the doors to its new Labor and Literacy Lab, a free resource for job-seekers and anyone who wants to improve their computer skills. Located in the historic Eisner Room, the lab is focused on helping people improve their digital literacy and job skills. The lab offers one-on-one computer and mobile device tutoring, Digital Literacy Workshops, Job search assistance, One-one-one ESL Tutoring, Test Proctoring, GED Test Prep all in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

The RBPL is lending Chromebooks!

Cardholders at the RBPL can now check out Chromebooks! As part of our efforts to expand internet and technology access in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the RBPL now has 20 HP Chromebooks that are available to patrons for a 2-week long check out. Like all other items, it can be renewed up to two times (as long as there’s not another hold on it).

The Chromebooks can access the internet over a WiFi connection, and are equipped with the Google Suite of tools, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Gmail. They are fairly simple computers to use, but if you need training, we offer that too! The Reference Desk can show you how to turn it on and off and connect to the internet, and if you want to go more in detail, you can schedule 1-on-1 tutoring with the Eisner Opportunity Lab.

When you come into the library, ask at Circulation to check out a Chromebook.

We’ll help you get checked out from there! In the near future, we will also be checking out iPads and Playaway Devices.

COVID Archive Project

Red Bank Public Library COVID Archive Project

We are experiencing a moment in history that will be remembered and studied long into the future. The Red Bank Public Library has created the COVID Archive Project and we want you to be a part of it. If you live, work, or go to school in Red Bank we want to collect your thoughts and memories of what you have been experiencing during this difficult time. All ages are encouraged to participate.

We are collecting short stories (up to 1500 words), poetry, drawings, paintings, photos, music/songs, and short video/audio recordings (less than 5 min) to become part of a display at RBPL when we reopen to the public. Please submit only items that you own or have created. Please note, submissions will not be returned. All items collected will become part of a permanent collection in our Local History Room.

Questions to consider for submissions:

• What has surprised you most during the pandemic?

• What has happened during the pandemic that has been positive?

• What has been most difficult?

• Are you or a family member an essential worker? How has this affected your family?

• What are your fears now and/or for the future?

• Has your work/business been impacted by COVID-19?

• If you are a student, has your learning been impacted?

• Topics for consideration: social distancing, grocery shopping, quarantine, schooling, healthcare, etc.

All submissions should include first & last name, address, age & occupation/business. Submissions can be emailed to redbanklibrary@gmail.com (Subject: COVID Archive Project) or mail to RBPL, 84 W Front St, Red Bank, NJ 07701.

By emailing or mailing your submissions to RBPL, all rights remain with the creator, but you grant the library the right to retain a copy & use/display the material for library purposes. Children under age 13 require parent/guardian consent to submit work. Please include consent to document their work, first name & age only, in email or mail with child & submission.

El Proyecto de Archivo de COVID

Estamos experimentando un momento en la historia que será recordado y estudiado en el futuro. La Librería Publica de Red Bank ha creado el Proyecto de Archivo de COVID y queremos que sea parte de él. Si usted vive, trabaja o va a la escuela en Red Bank queremos colectar sus pensamientos y memorias sobre lo que usted ha estado experimentado durante estos tiempos difíciles.

Estamos colectando historias cortas (hasta 1500), poesía, dibujo, pinturas, fotos, música/canciones & videos cortos/grabaciones de audio (menores de 5 minutos) para volverse parte de la exhibición en la librería una vez que volvamos a reabrir al público. Por favor someta solo los artículos que le pertenezcan o ha creado.   Por favor note que la sumisión no será regresada. Todos los artículos colección se volverá parte de una colección permanente en nuestro Cuarto de Historia Local.

• ¿Que es lo que más le ha sorprendido durante la pandemia

• ¿Que ha pasado durante la pandemia que ha sido positivo?

The Red Bank Public Library to Bring Candid, a grant research tool, to Your Community.

The Red Bank Public Library is gearing up to become the area's go-to nonprofit funding expert as a member of Candid's Funding Information Network. Membership to this nationwide network allows the Library to provide free access to Foundation Directory Online Essentials, Foundation Grants to Individuals, Candid Learning, and other resources to strengthen local nonprofit organizations when searching for funding opportunities. 

Representatives of nonprofit and grassroots organizations and other patrons are welcome to use Foundation Directory Online Essentials remotely through the Library's Research Databases Page through the end of 2020. 

Foundation Directory Online provides the most comprehensive and accurate information on U.S. grantmakers and their funding activities. FDO Essential is the quickest, least expensive way to identify organizations that fund nonprofits.

Foundation Grants to Individuals Online is a database of 10,000 grantmakers providing scholarships, fellowships, grants, and a wide range of financial support.

Candid Learning provides easy-to-use, self-service tools, and resources specifically designed to meet the needs of nonprofits worldwide. 

The Library's membership in the network supports the work of the Greater Red Bank nonprofit sector and helps to ensure local nonprofits' sustainability. As a Candid partner, Library staff will be certified on using the resources, guaranteeing the nonprofit sector's needs are met. The partnership also allows the Library to host webinars and classes centered around fundraising and grant writing. More information on these resources is available at our Research Databases page.
