What the Library is Offering During COVID-19

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Red Bank Public Library has cancelled all in-person programs and has closed the physical library to the public. We are, however, still hoping to provide limited services and materials to the public.

NOTE: THIS IS ALL TENTATIVE — WE ARE RESPONDING TO AN EVOLVING SITUATION, AND THUS HAVE TO ADAPT ON A BY-THE-MINUTE BASIS.

Materials

  • ALL ITEMS THAT ARE CURRENTLY CHECKED OUT HAVE HAD THEIR DUE DATES EXTENDED UNTIL MAY 15. NO ONE WILL BE CHARGED OVERDUE FINES DURING THE PANDEMIC.

  • Physical materials are not available for checkout.

  • Our Book Drops remain open, so if you want to return an item, please feel free to do so (but you do not have to until we reopen).

  • The Interlibrary Loan service has ceased operating for the time being, so if you place a hold on a physical item at another library in our online catalog, it is not going to make it to us. If it is at our library, we’re not going to be able to check it out to you until the library reopens.

  • Our 24-Hour Library is available to all cardholders — this includes audiobooks, ebooks, magazines, streaming video, and streaming music. We also offer FREE access to Universal Class (which offers free online courses) and the acclaimed language-learning program, Rosetta Stone.

  • If you do NOT have a library card, but you live, work, or go to school in town, you can apply for a temporary card at this link.

Services

  • There will be staff in the library from 9-5 on weekdays (unless there is a total shutdown). During this time, we will have our phones open for questions on how to use our 24-Hour Library and for general reference questions. Our number is (732) 842-0690.

  • We have created a Local Resource Page for information pertaining specifically to the pandemic. View it here.

  • All updates will be posted on our website, our social media pages, and once a week through our newsletter.
